We have an automatic cover that's great, but I've been reading that it's not great to use them in the winter/snow. Don't have a problem getting a safety cover, but I'm not sure how we'd go about anchoring it since the concrete on the sides of our a pool is so narrow. Any suggestions?pool.jpg

Get a custom cover with straps long enough to stake anchors into the grass around the pool.

On the side where the diving board is you will need to drill holes and insert brass anchors.

My cover installers gave me the option of using the deck or the grass. They had 36 in (?) anchors for yard applications.

My 2 sides with the walkway patio are 4ft and those straps would have had to have been longer to stretch to the grass. At 3 ft, they'd be close to the outside edge of my walkway and I probably would have chose the grass anchors.

I'm not sure I would ever trust grass anchors. Our clay soil stays moist most of the year, especially in the winter when I would use a cover. Just the other day, I pulled out rebar that was sunk about 24" in the soil like they were stuck in soft butter.

I raised those concerns and was told that they install them tight to the patio edge so the anchors couldn't move the direction they wanted to.

Now. I was told ALOT of things throughout the build that turned out to be hogwash, but my patio isn't going to budge so this one seems legit.
