I replaced an old pump with a used a pump I was given and it provided me the opportunity to replace some old Jandys that were cracked and sucking in air. This is my first attempt. I recognize that is is sloppy and there are MANY mistakes and some untidy work. However, it functions and I can drain the pool if/when it gets close to overflow (albeit post filter and not pre).

My question though is how I should handle the suction side lines from the pool - skim and main drain (second photo). There isn't much room and they are really close together and do not create that nice 'n' shape I see in all the YT videos.

Before and after attached. Feel free to make fun.

Are you wondering what to do where the suction and drain lines come out of the ground - where you have the two arrows drawn? If so, I realize the drain side (I think on the right) had to be twisted around to the valve, but it works. The new valve is glued in, so you don't have the option to change the position of the valve itself. Perhaps you could did down and try to manipulate where the pipe come "up" from, but that may be quite an ordeal. I would just leave things as they are now if it works and isn't leaking.

Looks funky but if it works, leave it. You can adjust the valve to get most of your flow from the skimmers. Only need a trickle from the main drain.

Once its painted it will all but disappear. You had to get creative and you found a way. Well done !!

I use the rustoleum 2X at HD
There is one specific line of the brand that is for plastics (has a pic plastic chairs on the label) but I have used them all on outdoor furniture and PVC pipes and I’ve never noticed a difference between them. They will have a color and shine to fairly match what you have, or you could respray it all to be perfect.
