How to estimate pool heater cost

How do I get a ballpark figure of how much it would cost to raise the temp of a 22,000 gal pool 10 degrees. We are located in Palm Springs so it is warm during day now in October but cool at night 50-60F. Heater is pentair Mastertemp 400. Cost of natural gas is ?? $2/therm ???

Do you lose all of the heat gained by heater in 5h3 day, at night or do 6pm have to run it 24/7
No solar blanket because they are royal PTA

It would take about 1,800,000 BTU to raise that much water 10 degrees. That is 18 therms. The best way is to run the heater 24/7 until the temp is reached. That also does not account for heat-loss, which depends much on the air temp. Your heater would take about 6 hours to reach that 10-degree increase, and cost about $36.00 initially.
Keeping it that warm, again, depends on ambient air temp, wind, etc. A solar cover would save a lot of the lost heat and a large one can be cut into smaller pieces to be easier to install/remove.
