how to clean the rust on ladder

Hi,

Anyone know how to clean the rust on the pool ladder? Look like it is paint? and what kind of paint i can repaint it?

Okay, I showed this to hubby. He says the first step is to take it apart as you can see where there is rust between the step and rail. Then use steel wool to remove the outer layer of rust. Make sure to wear gloves as steel wool can be rough on hands. You can also use a high number sand paper but use care to not make a hole or such.

Then he says to spray primer on the exposed metal. Let it dry then spray with rustoleum using a least 2 coats.

If any of the rust goes all the way through the metal (causing a hole in the rails) you should get a new ladder

From the pics, I would suggest a new ladder. Stainless steel will be the longest lasting.
