How soon can I test after adding chlorine?

I had some old liquid chlorine from last season. I added some to the pool to see how much it degraded. How long do I need to wait to test to see a change in ppm?

15-30 minutes with pump running. Brushing around the pool a bit helps to mix...

It didn't raise the ppm at all... What should I do with expired liquid chlorine?

It's pretty much water and salt at this point. Maybe kill some weeds?

I suspect even the new stuff I got isn't what the label claims. It's not raising as much as it should. I might have to adjust my pool math... Maybe my gallons are off.

How old are your reagents?
Leave the pool volume, get some fresh chlorine and retest...

I just got new powder and I ordered new 0871 last night. Both were about 2 years old.

Likely degraded and you would have gotten higher results that actual.

Possible. It does seem less especially since I'm using a solar cover until I get home from work. Hopefully the new reagent will be there when I get home and I'll compare.
