Even though the primer may be purple, I always have a sharpie pen and mark both sides of the joint with a dot or an X to tell me it was glued. That way, you can review all after and ensure each joint is glued.
Also once the union is hand tight, make a mark on the collar and the mating piece. So if it leaks, you can see how much you have additionally turned to stop the leak. Then mark it again as the final position. So if you take it off later, you know where you have to tighten back to.
