How quickly can pH/negative LSI eat through a heat exchanger?

If the tabs caused the pH/TA to crash then the FC could have been excessively high during that time. Test strips can only “work” (I use that term lightly) when the water parameters are within normal ranges. If the FC was high, then any of the other tests could be compromised, especially the pH because it will give false high readings with high FC. Other test lads will just bleach out.

I watched mine continue to change colors for Ph every last time I dipped one, for years. My brain always waited for the color I wanted it to be, sometimes at 5 seconds, other times at 20. HA !!! I KNEW IT !!!! Its fine at 7.6. Dunno why it's reading 8 now. *shrugs* Years later landing here, I realized how they never really told me anything, At. All.

The chemistry is about as bad as it can get.

Their claims of adjusting as needed are ridiculous nonsense.

In my opinion, the TA was probably below 0 and the pH was probably between 2 and 3.

No way to tell now.

In any case, hopefully, lessons learned.

I told him as much, that it was definitely a chemistry issue that ruined the heater. I'm hoping I can talk him into a SWCG moving forward.
