The CYA test that came with the Taylor kit is very small and only will allow for at most a handful of CYA tests. pH, FC, all the rest I can do multiple times a week for months but the CYA I will be lucky if I have enough test for 4 times.

How often should I be testing it to make sure things stay in order (at least the order I have them in) given the extreme amount of sun and rain we get here? This is in central Florida with an in ground pool fully enclosed by a screen.

In Florida I would suggest testing CYA monthly during the warm weather months. Say May to October.

CYA does degrade by oxidation at a slow rate. Here in the SW desert we can see 10-15 ppm drop per month during the summer.

Take care.

It depends on your pool, for example, I always experience a loss of CYA from 50 to 30 between
April 1st to June 15. Not sure why (no raining) but it does every year like clockwork.

But testing monthly during the swim season is a very safe bet to ensure it's where it needs to be.

You can always buy just the cya test reagent replacement at TFTestkits.net

Being in FL with lots of rain and drains, I'd test more often than most of the rest of us in the US. So I'd say monthly. I do mine maybe every 2-3 months.
