How long after adding acid should I wait to test?

I am in the process of opening my pool which became overrun with algae over the winter.

We have gotten our CYA levels in check (they were too highdue to trusting test strips. Won’t do that again!)

Now we are working on pH. And will SLAM once that is where it needs to be.

Currently:
TA=130
pH=7.6

Calculator says 1 gallon plus 1 quart will get us down to 7.

Plan is to add 1/2 gallon and test.

How long after adding the acid should I wait to test? (And almost certainly add more.)

Thank you!

Give it 30 minutes to test although 15 is probably enough time.

What % MA are you using?

You have borates in the water?

Looks to me like 64 oz of 31% Ma would lower pH by 0.4 and get you right to 7.2. 1+ gallon looks way too much depending on my assumptions.

No borates added, but don’t have ability to test (and we bought house after pool was opened last summer - so we are dealing with (at least some of) the previous owners water.)

31% Ma....I assume calculator is saying we need 1gal + 1qt because our TA is 130.
