How have you child proofed your above ground pool?

Hi all, we have a 1.5 year old and another baby on the way. This weekend we are putting up our 18' x 48" pool.

I see there are some safety ladders like the Roll Guard ladder and others with a gate. I'm curious for those of you who have "child-proofed" your pool what all you have done. Thanks!

There are videos out there of toddlers climbing those "child proof" ladders. When it comes to little kids and life-and-death things like drowning, you need layers of safety. Climb resistant ladder or ladder removed from pool plus a locked fence plus window/door alarms, etc.

I don’t have small children, so I don’t really have an issue, but my Confer entry system comes with a gate, latch is several feet up so a child couldn’t reach.

I used a “slide lock” ladder where the steps slide up above the pool level and then you can padlock it.

Since building a deck I use a self-closing gate with a padlock at the top of the stairs.

Pump/filter is 6+ feet from the water so it can’t be climbed on.
