Things i would have done different
1. Not used DWV fittings
2. Use clear cleaner and glue for exposed plumbing.
3. Add valves to skimmer and return for isolation.

Yeah, I’m not crazy about the purple primer, but I plan to spray the pipes to blend with the building anyway, so I let that go. What do you mean about DWV fittings?

Ditto on the DWV fittings. Structurally not as sound and could be more exposed for an AG pool.

The swept 90s look to be DWV fittings.

What do you mean about DWV fittings?

DWV stands for Drain, Waste, Vent. They are not designed to be used in pressure applications.

How can you tell the elbows are DWV? I actually picked everything up that he asked for, but he didn’t say if anything wasn’t right. Should I take it all apart and start over?

Replacing it is up to you. They may be OK forever. But if they fail, it will drain your entire pool.

Would that have had anything at all to do with the pump having bad bearings? Or was that just bad luck on getting a bum pump?

And once the water gets below the skimmer, wouldn’t it stop coming out?

Apparently all the pipe is DWV, except for one piece, the one that comes down and back to the return.

What I meant about the skimmer is that you said my pool would empty. I was just saying that wouldn’t it stop emptying once it dropped below the skimmer?

Not if it failed on the return, then it would drain to the level of your return.
