How do I get that sight glass off Hayward Multiport valve to clean it?

I just had my DE filter cleaned on the 4th. IT is now the 11th and the sight glass has algae in it because the chlorine got down to .12 because my chlorinator was not filling up with water and seems to be draining once the pump is off so chlorine is not being put in the pool. I have since been adding bleach and the chlorine is up to 2.5 and I will add 50 more ounces of bleach tonight to get it up to 4.0.

I didn't want to backwash since the filter was cleaned last week. Also, is backwashing a DE filter once every 4-6 weeks the proper schedule?

How do I get this sight glass off to clean it? Does the pump need to be off to do so? Is it just screw to the left and pull or do you just pull on it or what?

Holy cow I got it! Had to get rubber gloves to get an ultra grip on it lol!

Wonder why that water was all gross and algae because water from the pool does not pass through there unless you backwash or rinse.
