How bad is trichlor or dichlor?

Hi! I’m oot and my pool started to turn green. I hired a pool maintenance company to clean up the pool and they added 1 1/2# of shock to clear up the issue.

I asked what kind and they said trichlor or bichlor. I asked them to use liquid chlorine only but I guess they didn’t.

How bad is this if it’s a one time deal? And do I need to be more demanding they follow my TFP way of maintaining?

I usually never have to add anything but muriatic acid.

JW. Thanks for your insights.

READINGS
4500 ppm
salt
7.8 pH
1 ppm total chlorine
CHEMICALS ADDED
1½ lbs
shock

Sorry but I can’t. I had my SWG set to 75% before I left, but the pool hasn’t been cared for since April due to a miscommunication about service (I thought they were taking care of it and he didn’t think he had the contract so he wasn’t) ugh.

All I have is what they shared above. We’re in AZ so it’s pretty hot in the summer. I suspect the temp got the better on my pool.

This are my last readings. I worked all winter trying to lower a 20 ppm of FC from my last pool maintenance job. I went with a different company, and, to be honest, nobody does as good a job as this forum!

Just FYI, 20FC was totally fine as it's under the 28 SLAM level for 70 CYA per FC/CYA Levels.

Many, many, many people fall into this trap of thinking chlorine is an enemy or something that needs to be lowered.
Trust the FC/CYA chart.

Id also like to add that many many many people go from pool service to pool service to pool service thinking the same weekly method will work with the new service.

It's the industry method and the frequency, not which truck pulls up in the driveway. Nobody wants to pay them to come 3 times a week. They don't stand a chance, even with my beloved SWG. I caught mine off 7 or 8 times last year after big storms. You just know that would have been the day after my service showed up, and 5 days before the next visit.

Once the pool is stabilized it literally takes minutes a day to check chemistry. If something is off it takes literally minutes to address it. Apprising and adjusting as necessary on a daily basis takes less time than a potty break. Seriously.
