How and when did this site get started?

I’ve been looking for a link or something that would take me to the history of TFP but haven’t found anything yet. In my somewhat limited experience, this is a very unique website with experts providing most of the technical advice, and then you fold in the pool math app and TFTestkits and it’s a complete package. This didn’t just happen spontaneously. What’s the history?
