Fiberglass, SWG, 17K to 18K gallons of water, Southern California

I just added Muriatic Acid to lower pH so that I can then lower my TA. I used 10ml of water yesterday when testing TA, then added baking soda. Luckily, I only added half of what I thought I needed but now my TA is a little high after testing with the correct amount of water 🙄

My CYA is at the "max acceptable," is that ok? The tester I have for CYA has a gap in numbers from 60 to 100; it's less than 100 but it's really hard to tell with any accuracy where I'm truly at. I've been laid off for 3 weeks and live in SoCal so I can't afford to drain any water...

CH is quite low; however, I feel like in the past I was told not to worry too much about it with the fiberglass. Thoughts?

I appreciate any input 🤘🤘

Why did you add baking soda (increasing TA) then attempt to lower TA? A non-trichlor pool will rarely (likely never) need baking soda. TA of 50 or above is perfectly fine.

I've been leaving my pump on overnight when running my OCLT. Two days in a row I tested around 10:30PM and then again at 5:30AM. One night was 2.0 ppm and the other was 2.5 ppm.

Yesterday I backwashed and scrubbed the walls, light, and intakes. I checked every 3 hours, adding what was necessary to maintain my SLAM level and I was feeling very confident. Then I almost cried this morning after testing! First reading at 9:30PM and second at 4:30AM and it was 6 ppm! Today I had no desire to do anything with it, which is the wrong direction to go...

It's hard getting up so early, to only be disappointed.

*Thanks for moving this here. Wasn't sure what was more appropriate; new thread or add to this.
