Houston, TX Pool Build Diary - From Design to Dive-In

PLAT!!! Your pool turned out STUNNING!!! I don't think I have enough superlatives in my vocabulary to apply to your finished product. It all came together beautifully! I can't wait to hear about all the "ooohs and aaahs" you will receive at your party this weekend! Congratulations!!!

Congratulations on your new pool! I enjoyed reading this thread. We also live in Kingwood and put our pool in last Spring. We also had to deal with the city of Houston and go through the storm process. What an absolute nightmare! I keep watching the construction of the new HEB and wonder how much water detention that project is having to provide.....probably less than I needed to put a pool in my backyard! I also noticed that we used the same pool builder!! I know you came down to two and I was curious who came in second place. Anyway....glad you are finished! Your pool is beautiful...enjoy!!

Another Kingwoodian and Eastexer!!!! Too funny! Second place was Marquis Pools. Marlohoutex used them, so she could provide firsthand info. We really liked their proposal as well.

Some more miscellaneous update photos.

Here is a good closeup of the spa tile in the sun with water flowing over the top. Good view of the BeadCrete as well.

The pups not really sure what to expect. A life jacket for the smaller one because we're not sure with her. She was an adoption pup as well and had a LOT of issues. Heartworm positive, 3 broken legs and a fractured hip from a previous car hit we assume and a .22 cal bullet in one paw. She just had leg surgery to get her knee aligned and working better which was a major deal for her. So with all of that, we want to make sure she's got some extra support for when she goes off the sunshelf.

The bigger one loves to jump in the lake and swim, but clear pool water has always perplexed him. It took about 15 minutes just to coax him onto the sun-shelf. It's going to take some work to get him to use the ramp, but we'll get there and I am sure it will definitely work better than that one last step into deep water for him.

Landscaping going in. Everything placed here still in containers. We're tweaking the final locations on a few things still. We're also going to have to wait until Spring for several key plantings. Foxtail palms aren't available anywhere right now. We're also needing to get a Yucca Gloriosa and some other stuff.

3??? 3 broken legs? AND hip problems? Poor thing. Did you nurse him through it? Oh the heart worms :( poor thing! Well he has hit the jack pot now!

LOL on the lake "here I come!" and the clear water "you want me to go in THERE???" They sure keep us guessing!

That shot of the spa should be in their sales catalog! That is awesome work! BLING!

Have you turn no the waterfall yet?

She had already healed up when we adopted her. That was part of the issue. The vet said that somebody obviously nursed her back, but that they did not get her the needed medical care because her breaks did not set right. Hence the surgery. The heart worms were the very first thing we dealt with. 2 months of no activity. The other dog was the same 7 years ago when we got him. HW positive, so we had been through this routine once before.

Yes, the waterfall is working!!! The electrician was here until 9pm last night getting stuff done so the Hayward OmniLogic could be programmed today. Our builder got some basic timers set so that all of the water features come on at least 1x per day to keep anything from stagnating in the pipes.

We are especially happy with our decision to add the extra lights and go with color LED. It is soooooo cool. I'll try and get some photos of that when I get a chance along with water feature photos.

Did the waterfall sound like you wanted it to? I can't wait to see a video of it (hint, hint).

It sounds like that poor dog did not really get "care" with all of that wrong. I am glad you have her now! Awesome job you have done with her!

The waterfall is awesome. Looks and sounds great. The variable speed pumps are perfect. So convenient to tweak the flow by just a little bit. It looks great in the daytime and at night with the uplight underneath, it is truly amazing.

I wanna see someone in the pool!!

Ha! We're not much about posting selfies, so the pups may be it....
