Hot tub draining when filter is off and water is brow

Hello everyone I recently bought a home with a hot tub pool setup . I realized that every time the filter is off the hot tub drains itself . I looked online and realized I needed a check valve . But the problem lies when I turn on my filter in the day and my water is brown and dirty in the hot tub only . Really have no clue as to why my hot tub has dirty water flowing through it when my pill is crystal clear

Does your spa spillover into the pool when the pump is running and you are in the Pool Mode???

Yes it does when the filter pump is set to pool the spa spills over
