Hose Choice for Draining

I've been using 100' 5/8" hose connected to sub-pump which has 3/4" adaptor.

I can get 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" I believe. Pump is 1/2 hp (3k gph I think).

Should I just buy 100' of 1 1/2" heavy duty backwash hose (clamp on) for the fastest drain rate?

I only have to take water out a half dozen times a season so the compactness of lay flat hose is appealing.

A larger hose will give you a greater flow rate out of your pump.

See how long the backwash hose lasts.

Your 5/8” hose is restricting your flow significantly. Larger diameter will provide a higher flow rate.

I just use a short length of hose like 10 feet connected to the hose bib on my pump. It's slow but I don't care I start it when I start cutting the grass and by the time I'm done, it usually is as well.

Agreed. Will 1 1/2" heavy duty backwash hose last if cared for properly?
