Hollow in bench

Hi folks. Doing a DIY pool install. We have a bench running the full length of the pool. I've noticed a small area (maybe two feet by a few inches) halfway along that feels hollow underfoot compared with the rest of the bench.

I'm assuming I didn't pack the backfill in enough.

Does anyone know if this is a structural concern?

Nothing that you can do about it now but I doubt that it'll effect anything. I've seen steps that feel like that which would be much more concerning in my opinion. Just enjoy the pool.

I am guessing this is a fiberglass pool. Am I correct? What kind of deck and coping do you have?

Yes, fibreglass. No deck and coping yet. Haven't installed the bond beam. However, digging down would be difficult - the backfill is crusher dust and cement, and a lot of it has set hard in clumps.

Yeah BUT it will be MUCH harder to get to after you put in the deck and coping...............just saying............

Yes, I'm girding my loins and going in there. Pool shell provider told me it was a structural risk. I need to dig down and pack it in. Wish me luck.
