High salt light blinking?

When it rains, it pours. Seems like everything is needing to be replaced/fixed on my Pentair unit this year.
Now my high salt light is blinking on my IC40, which I just had tested and is in correct specs. So I checked the chlorine level and it is very low.
I had heard sometimes when the low salt light is blinking it could be the flow switch, but does this sound like it is just burned out and not worth the effort?
Thanks

Yes. With high Salt it will still create chlorine.
But if the CELL light is blinking, that is not a good sign. The Cell has been inspected and there is no calcium build up, right?

35,

Just to be clear..

The cell light turns on when the cell is making chlorine and turns off when the cell is at rest. At 50% output, the cell light should be on for about 2.5 minutes and then off for about 2.5 minutes..

But.. If the cell is clean, and the cell light is continuously blinking, then the cell is dead. You can often reboot the salt system and the cell light will go back to working for a few minutes, or even a day, but it will soon start blinking again.

Sorry for your loss.. :(

How old is the cell? The date of mfg. is on the S/N label. Most cells last 5 to 7 years.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Thanks for the info guys.
All the other lights are working correctly, it’s just the high salt light that is blinking.
I’ll check the cell on this upcoming day off. Sounds like I’ll be spending some more money. 😞

35,

If only the green salt light is flashing, that indicates the cell thinks the salt level is too high, but the cell should still be making chlorine..

Set the output to 50% and see if the 'Cell' light comes on for 2.5 minutes, and then is off for about 2.5 minutes.

If the thermistor inside the flow switch assembly is bad, it can make the cell think the salt level is too high or too low.

The flow switch can be replaced.

How old is the cell??

Thanks,

Jim R.

Probably about 5 years old.
Ordered the flow switch.
For $30 off of Amazon, might as well try.

Changed the flow sensor, and the salt level light turned solid green after cycling back up.
Dropped a 3” chlorine tablet in both skimmers to try to give the chlorine a boost.
Will know in a week if it is still producing correctly.
Thanks guys for the help.
