High CYA - time to wait before retesting after 50% drain

Wondering how long the pump should run before retesting?

Run the pump for at least 24 hours after all stabilizer has dissolved. Retest in about 48 hours. CYA takes a while to get distributed in the water.

Thanks but I did not add stabilizer, I did a partial drain and refill to reduce very high existing CYA.

Then there is no real reason to wait.. Just test away..

I was thinking the pump would need to run for some time so that the new and exiting water would get mixed to get an accurate result? Thanks

No harm in giving the water 24 hours to mix.

Good point! I would wait a day or so.. When you add dry CYA it normally takes a while to get fully dissolved into the pool water.. I would not think that would be the case when adding water to already dissolved CYA, but do not know that for sure.. As Allen says, it can't hurt to wait a day or so.
