High cya levels in California drought area

There should be no problems running the spa jets during your SLAM. The key is to always ensure water is moving/circulating during the SLAM, and that you brush occasionally to break-up surface of any attached algae. If you are forced to operate the return jets at only one location at a time (spa or pool), I would focus predominantly on the pool and schedule smaller sessions for the spa. Manual mixing and scrubbing "should" be a little easier in the spa as well I would think. The pics show a good illustration of where you are. Just wait until you wake-up one morning and see the big changes. Remember though, try to stay patient and "maintain" the SLAM FC. It will work.

good day everyone got uh few pictures it's pretty early but did my best later today I will be coming home before sun down to see it in the sunshine I can't wait my big birtha reagent came in the last time I took a reading was Sunday and it read 31ppm which was my target shock level today it's 24ppm I the last time I added chlorine was Tuesday morning I didn't know if I hit 31 target shock level so I don't know how much I lost so today I went back up to 31ppm we shall see.......

this is the plan as I did it for anyone in California dealing with water restrictions and big fines and high cya levels

1) do parcel drain/fills spread them out to avoid any big fine know your county limits before you get fined.

2) this one's tough, guess on how much you Darin an fill.... I'd go maybe uh 1/4 first wait for the first water bill to gauge for the second and third one.

3) most important be patient I don't think there's any kind of quick fix like bioactive, or this green to blue

the guy at the pool store, his advice was uh there's nothing you can do..... just wait for El nenuo to come.wow thanks alot pool guy..... this is your professional advice? I only owned uh pool for like 3 or so months.... come on.....

You need to maintain it until you pass all 3 criteria for ending the SLAM which are
1) an overnight FC loss of 1ppm or less,
2)A CC of .5 or less
3) a Crystal clear pool

Your pool is looking great by the way. The difference is awesome. Keep up the great job, and you'll be there before you know it. :)

Thank u this is a good feeling!!! I could've bought any other house but I specifically bought this one for the pool cuz of my two boys and their friends an all my nieces and nephews so this is a very good feeling for me I feel like a pool man superhero or something! Lol

You can use photobucket to link new pics OR you could become a TFP supporter! Look on the home page for the button.

You are doing it! It is working great. Now comes the hard part............getting it to clear! The more you have the FC AT or slightly above SLAM level the faster it will go.

THIS is when your pics will help you see it clear. Take pics looking down at the stairs. You will watch them as the water clears. It will give you something to look forward to. This last part seems to take the longest if you cannot see it happen.

0uestion, once I pass the test in the slam thread with the free chlorine lost the combined chlorine 0.5 or less and the clear pool and let's say I do pass and I'm all clear how long would it take for the chlorine level to drift all the way back down to 3 seems like it would take a long time?

It may take a few days to get there BUT with a CYA of 80ppm you do Not want your FC to drop all the way to 3ppm, or you'll be battling algae again. Here is the chlorine/cya link for you to look at http://www.troublefreepool.com/content/128-chlorine-cya-chart-slam-shock as you can see with a CYA of 80ppm your FC range is 6-9pm.

If you don't remain above the minimum level for your current CYA at all times, you risk algae growing again, and having to SLAM again to kill it out. So you'll want to Target for at least the 9ppm, and be sure you add chlorine, at or before 6ppm, and you shouldn't have any issues with algae. :).
I hope this helps. Have a nice night. :)
