she forgot to turn off water :(
So for 4 days the Pool was filling and running over. Uggg.. anyways in the 108 degree temp everything dried up pretty good now and water level was good after 2 days. But, I was worried about chem issues and did a CYA test, it was @ zero which normally it’s at 60ish, so I added the HTH? powder through sock in skimmer (4lbs) and I helped all of it dissolved in a few hours by squeezing sock. I guess the water running for 4 days was diluting the whole pool and made everything change, obviously.

Now, I thought it takes a about 6-7 days to actually get a correct reading after adding and now it’s back to 60.

So my question is, after 2 days is my reading correct ? Label said 4lbs would bring it up to 50ish give or take for my size pool.
2. Did running that much CYA through the skimmer that fast hurt anything ?

I used the TF-100 directions on testing
Thanks

EDIT. Normally, I would be able to keep an eye on the pool but heading to Argentina in 36 hours and was wondering

Two days after dissolving is more than enough time to get an accurate test result. The old wait a week advice is just that: old. We have discovered that a day is plenty of wait, after it's dissolved. And you didn't hurt anything. CYA is a very weak acid and it was diluted by thousands and thousands of gallons of water flowing past.

I bet what is going on is that you had some CYA left in the water BUT it was low enough you could not really see it with the test. So what you added mixed with what was left and voila! You have a good CYA level again!

Thank you for fast answers..
amazing how fast the sun burned through the chlorine without CYA in the water. For 2 days , almost 2 gallons of 10% a day

I think I the CYA irritated my skin on my squeezing hand though lol
4lbs in socks is a lot of squeezing

My sister did this to our pool in florida 30years ago. And we were on WELL WATER! The pool looked like Iced Tea. To make matters worse, her and her brilliant boyfriend dumped in a 5gallon can full of 3" chlorine tabs.
