Just saying hello from Cape Cod Massachusetts. Have a 28ft. Round 4ft deep above ground with a sand filter and a 1.5 HP motor. This is my second summer and I've had trouble keeping algae off the pool floor this year. I replaced the motor and sand in the filter. After replacing motor it only gets up to 3 to 4 PSI. The other motpr same size use to run at about 10 to 15. But I do not see a difference in pressure on the return of water which is weird to me but I have no idea about this stuff really My pool chemistry always seems pretty good when I test chlorine pH level and alkalinity

Using a two tube test kit or pool store testing will lead to algae. You need one of the test kits recommended here which probably need to be ordered. Using the links above you will see that there is a direct relationship between Free Chlorine and Stabilizer (CYA). The CYA will dictate where your FC should be and a simple test kit won't tell you that. Pool stores exist to sell you products that you don't need so you can stop using them and once you figure out your water chemistry you can generally get by with just muriatic acid and liquid chlorine. Being in Mass you'll have other things to consider as well with your seasons but these are the basics.
