New pool owner and would love some insight/prediction. I have an in ground pool with a skimmer and a main drain.

I started draining my pool yesterday with the pump off from 8pm-11pm and that drowned half the pool.

I went out there this morning at 10 to realize I didn’t turn the timer off so the pump turned back on at 6 with the water level 8 inches below the skimmer.

The pump wasn’t squeeling or hot and was still circulating a little bit of water from what I can see because of my main drain. I rushed to turn it off and didn’t see what the PSI was.

Do you think I broke it? Or did the main drain save it?

Welcome to the forum!

Time will tell. When you get the pool refilled, prime the pump and watch for any seal leaks (drips from where the motor and pump meet), unusual sounds, etc.
