Help with spa fitting

My spa return line has an externally threaded piece of white PVC installed. Upon closer inspection w a snorkel mask, it appears that at some point this fitting was snapped off & broken. Ive tried to unscrew this fitting but it will not budge, even w channel locks.

Should I be able to remove whatever this fitting is?

I am trying to install a diffuser of sorts (just a T fitting) such that the water going into the spa is less turbulent and allows for a more laminar spillover. Currently its like a mini volcano. No PVC pipes / fittings go into the existing fitting snugly.

That hole is not a return but a fitting for a spa fountain...

Spa looks like it had a fountain but I can't find pipe - help me assemble one

What special fittings / pipe / head do I need ? Is there a standard ? I have no no idea where to start

Spa fountain pipe loose

My little kiddo was swinging from the fountain pipe in the spa today and now it is loose tipping from side to side. I tried to unscrew it from the bottom of the spa, but something seems to be holding it. The theads of the pipe seem loose, but the pipe will not turn. What is the normal method...

Based on your links the threads are likely glued in. Any tricks to removing the broken fitting?

If the fountain pipe sticking up was threaded into a pope in the ground it would not have been glued.

Where do you see the threads? Are the threads on the inside of the pipe hole that is there?

If the broken piece threads are stuck into the ground then use a hacksaw blade and carefully score the pipe in four or five places then use pliers to peel the sections off. Try not to cut into the pipe in the ground.

The OD of the white pvc piece is threaded. Since ive already tried to turn it w/o success, i’ll try cutting.
