I’m thinking I have 20ppm for CYA. Could I have some help with the test because it can be subjective? I’ve attached a photo of the black dot at each marker.

Stand outdoors with your back to the sun and hold the view tube at about waist level. If sunlight is not available, find the brightest artificial light you can.

It is really difficult to do the CYA test correctly indoors. And setting it on a table creates shadows, etc.

Thanks for your help. Looks like I have a CYA of ~25ppm. Would you recommend going to 40ppm?

How does the water look? Do you have any CC when you run your tests? Does your chlorine level drop at all overnight?

The water is crystal clear and looks great. The CC has consistently been 0.5ppm every day. I haven’t performed an overnight chlorine lost test since passing it and finishing my SLAM on 6/22.

I’ve been losing 4-5ppm of FC every 24hr period. It’s been hot and the pool gets good amount of direct sunlight during the day.

We round up. If dot disappears between 30 and 20 you call it 30. You cant measure 25 with the tube.

Adding 10 ppm of stabilizer would not hurt anything. Use PoolMath

This may be a dumb question but when the instructions say stand with your back to the sun, you don't want the tube in your own shadow do you? This happens later in the day... I assume best to ensure you're in bright sunlight but not staring directly into it. Thanks
