HELP! Water not getting to pump

You mentioned a rebuild of the filter. Are you sure via testing that there is
no blockage in or at the filter? Also when you are trying to push air or water
from the skimmer is the pump filter lid open?

well, water goes through the pump first before it gets to the filter, so I haven't been too focused on the filter so far. I am able to backwash and use the other settings (including filter) without problems. I've been running the pump on filter for the last 2 days, but still no suction from skimmer, but water does come in, enough to run the pump.

Well, water goes into the pump first, then to the filter, so I haven't been too focused on the filter. However, I am able to run the pump and it's going into the filter and then to the return lines back into the pool. I'm able to backwash as well. Yes, I keep the lid open and have my wife monitoring it while I push air down from skimmer, but she feels zero air flow, but water does continue to trickle out.

Like RDspaguy said... put your multiport valve on "waste", insert a garden hose with a bladder attached into the waste line, close your main drain and open your skimmer line and then turn the water on. It should push the water backwards from the waste line out of your skimmers. You may just have a lot of air in your skimmer line and this should push it out... (Make sure your pump is turned OFF!)

UPDATE - I'm back in business! Thank you all for the help. It turns out it was user error (facepalm). When i was testing initially, I didn't have any water coming from skimmer line when I would have the valve in the on position. When i would put it on OFF I had decent flow. So i figured it was backward or faulty, etc.

Then just now, after jiggling the valve on/off a few times, with the pump running, then running in on position again, i had full suction from the skimmer. I'm not sure why i wasn't able to get any water from skimmer line with testing initially, maybe slight blockage or maybe the valve isn't aligned perfectly? Anyway, glad I didn't spend any money, just hours of troubleshooting. appreciate the help!
