Hello, I found this forum while searching for ways to clean/address main drain clog.
Issue is that since we've purchased home, main drain has never worked. Inspection of drain shows lots of small gravel in it. Attached jacuzzi main drain works and the single pool skimmer works. In investigating skimmer, I've ran a camera in SINGLE hole and am not sure of what I'm looking at. Can someone help me identify? Pool was built in mid-80's. 1 photo is from top (under basket) the other is looking into single hole drain. thanks

I can't make out what that is in the photo. Plug of some sort maybe? My gut tells me that the main drain was probably closed/plugged by the previous owners. A pool that old, it wouldn't surprise me if the line developed a leak and they just closed it off. If there is no dedicated line from the drain to the equipment pad, it must be tied into the skimmer line somewhere. Just easier to run the pool without a drain at that point.

Stand back and get a better picture. Also, one of the lid would help. Could be an old American Products Admiral skimmer.

Thank you for the replies. No lid came with the pool when we purchased house. Only 2 drains come up to pump pad. Other evidence is pointing towards leak in past, so it might be closed off. But if it runs into skimmer, not sure how that would be accomplished? The mysteries continue....
