Help required with my pool results (New pool owner)

Hello Everyone,

Firstly, I'm grateful to TFP for having a free forum for pool discussions and seeking help from experts.

I recently purchased a home with a pool and we decided to drain old water, pressure wash it and filled with new water. We hired a pro to get this done and they've added required chemicals after filling the water. The pool was ok for a couple of weeks and for some reason the company didn't show up in the next two weeks and the pool turned into dark green color.

I researched online and purchased a Pool Rx (Black - 30K gallon) and put in the pump filter. The next two days, the water is still green, but started reducing the color. After 4 days, there isn't much change and I bought "In the swim 5-in-1 multi tabs" and added 3 of them to my chlorinator. The water started turning blueish the next 2 days, but very gloomy.

I took the water for sampling test today and its a total mess All the numbers were out of range (See attached). Seeking for help here to get back my pool in a good state. I'm still trying to learn the basics of pool and looking for recommendations here. Thank you very much for reading !

Welcome to TFP.
Unfortunately, the pool store sold you a bunch of rubbish. Now you have copper in the pool which is not good.
We do not trust pool store testing but they are the only ones that have tests for metals so we go with that.
You need to replace the water in your pool again and start fresh.

The problems you have, assuming the pool store tests are some what close, is that you have no CYA which helps hold chlorine. There is no chlorine in the water, which is burned off by UV (the sun) and now being consumed by algae. Only chlorine prevents algae and if you have none, then algae forms.

Order a test kit
Drain and refill the pool to remove the copper. It will also help to get rid of some of the algae but it will not get rid of it all.
Add chlorine to the pool upon filling - suggest you purchase liquid chlorine at Walmart or Home Depot. Buy 10 gals as you will need it over the next several days.
Suggest you download the PoolMath app, so we can show you how much chlorine to add after filling.
You also need to purchase stabilizer at HD. You will need to add CYA when you refill the pool.

What Herman said, pool stores poke your eyes. Order a proper test kit so you can test yourself. A Taylor K-2006C from Amazon will suffice. In the mean time put chlorine 1 gallon daily, to slow down the algae until you get that kit. Test everything so you have a base to start with. Up your CYA (stabilizer) to about 40-50 ppm. It's hot and the sun will eat your chlorine so you need CYA. Drop the PH with Muriatic Acid to 7.2-7.4. DO NOT BUY KLEAN GREEN brand it won't work. You can find other brands at Lowes, Home Depot. The SLAM with liquid chlorine. Download the Pool Math app and follow the recommendations for what you need to SLAM. Read the pool school articles and SLAM articles on the forums to have a better understanding of what you need to do. Hope this helps.
