I am very new to the pool game so bear with me. We had a pool refurbished this year (it hadn’t been touched in about 35 years)! It’s gorgeous and I love it. It’s gunnite and we got it replastered this year so it’s all new. We have been noticing what I believe to be mustard algae - I used yellow out and it got rid of it the first time. We then went away for a week and I came back and it was back - the chlorine had evaporated very fast I think. We had a pool guy coming but I’m not sure he did the best job keeping the levels right. The ph was always high - the Chlorine nonexistent. The second time I decided to use the hth green to blue and which of course included the flocculant (I thought when pouring it in this is a huge mistake but then did it anyway - at least I have now learnt NEVER AGAIN!). I then for good measure did yellow out again. I know this was not a smart way of doing things but I panicked and am learning.
I’m now at my wits end with two things now - I cannot not matter how much I vacuum to the waste make it all leave. I’ve attached a current photo of it. I also see a couple dots which are terrible hard to see in the photo but look like there may be a little algae coming back! They haven’t changed in the past 4 days but if it’s a start, I want to nip it in the bud.
My pool is 36,000 gallons.
The ph is 7.2-7.5
Cya is 30-40 (it had gone to zero but I sorted that the other day)
Chlorine is now consistently reading at 3 (instead of disappearing continuously)
Alkalinity is 70
