Help. PB not responding in Dallas. Need repair help

Now...
The cleaner won’t turn on. The water in the hot tub is draining little by little. May be when the cleaner tries to turn on, and when the hot tub turns on.
I noticed that the electric box thing- labeled ‘cleaner’ trips off when it tries to turn on and the cleaner pump makes a louder than normal noise when trying to turn on.

Right now in pool mode- seems to be ok.
But leaves and gunk are piling up.

Recommendation for a pool company??
It is pentair. Built in 2105.
Should I call pentair? Warranty?

Oh my- this thing is killing me!! :-(

Julz,

If just built in 2016, then I would have to assume most of your Pentair equipment would still be under warranty. Not sure about the cleaner pump.

I would call Pentair and have them send out a tech... or have your pool builder send out a tech.

In the meantime, I would use a leaf rake and manually remove as much of the debris as possible.

Or better yet, move up into this century and buy a Robot cleaner than does not need any of the pumps to be running..

PB won’t respond.
I have several other posts recently where y’all helped me figure out what is going on, never the pb. I think we finished in 2015. Out of warranty says the website.
Any reputable pool help that I can hire???
I know this is DIY site, but we’re leaving on Wednesday for 2 WK’s.

It sounds like you need to pull the cleaner motor and check it. Its kind of hard to see but it looks like the cleaner motor intake is connected to the spa return line. Any chance the cleaner motor ran when the spa return was off?

I now have the cleaner turned off.the schedules for the cleaner deleted.
I have the pool pump turned up to 2000.
We have an easy touch, so can’t tell on the panel what’s going on.
Running the pool at high rate (2000) seems to circulate water in the spa. I’ll leave it there until I get further help.

Are both automatic valves moving when you switch from SPA to POOL modes? At least in the configuration that my pool is plumbed, it will drain my spa or blow DE powder back into my pool if one of the valves fails.

Just the one on the right moves when I switch to spa. The one that is just in front of the pump with the clear cover.

Does the pool have an in-floor cleaning system?

It is pentair. Built in 2105.

That's odd. I would have expected the equipment to look more futuristic.

In any case, you have a Spa return included with the pool returns, you can partially close the returns to force more water to the spa.

You probably need a filter clean.

The booster probably needs a new capacitor. It's under the bump on top of the motor.

Yep, I agree with JamesW. Turn off breaker to pool equipment and unscrew the cover for capacitor. Unplug it or take a pic and go to pool store to see if they have replacment. Installation is reverse of removal.

Just to clarify:
(Bear with me- I’m newby)

Here’s what u have so far:

1)when turning on the spa last week, the water starting draining out (looked like the pool was rising).

2) I filled spa back up with hose and did not run spa again. (Left out of town so couldn’t get/ try repair)

Meanwhile house sitter added water (to the spa only) because it went down slightly (about 2-4 inches each day)

Yesterday get home:
3) pool looks dirty. Cleaner not moving (pressure Polaris) notice that the ‘cleaner’ breaker is tripped.
I switch the breaker try the cleaner again
Cleaner pump makes wierd noise and trips breaker again. The third time, the ‘booster pump’ switch is tripped.
(Spa is greenish)
Fill the spa up with hose

Now I add more LQ, turn pool up to 2000, water then flowing slightly to spa. Delete the auto cleaner modes and left pool running at 2000.

Leave for work.

Back from work
Water filled fine- didn’t go down any
Pool still running. Looks ok color wise- still many leaves of course.
Pump running but sounds maybe a bit different than normal (maybe because of speed?)


Now I’m confused...

When you switched to "Spa", only the suction changed. So, you were pulling from the Spa but returning to the pool.

Both valves should change when you change from Pool to Spa or Spa to Pool.

Check the little switch on the bottom of the automatic valve at the return to see if it is in the Off position. Try changing it to see if the valve turns.

Try turning the booster pump shaft from the rear to see if it turns easily. There might be a cap over the shaft.

If it turns easily, try replacing the capacitor. It's a cylinder under the bump on top of the motor.
