Help me start up my new plastered pool

Thanks, so I guess using up my existing pucks 1 a week or so time won’t hurt and will help keep my PH and chlorine stable.

More likely it will lead to rising CYA, lower your pH more then necessary, maybe crash your TA, and bring your CSI lower then healthy for your plaster.

It all depends what your water chemistry is that you have not logged in PoolMath

Florida folks who use pucks can get away with it because the daily rains fill up their pools and dilute all that CYA. They often are draining down the pool in advance of rain.

You being in California with frequent drought and water restrictions should probably stay far, far away from pucks. They can be evil. Truly.

I’ve used pucks for YEARS!! And have had problems for years. Now that the pool is basically brand new I will probably just use these pucks when I go out of town

How much MA on average are you using a week with a SW pool? I remember reading somewhere here that the increase is significant compared to bleach.

I use about 1/2 gallon a year :)

But I have a vinyl liner pool and my TA is low and pH is really stable... Every pool is differant and will depend on your PH, TA in your pool and fill water...

One thing I don’t really understand... all I see being used for the most part by pool service guys are pucks.

They get paid to fix the problems they create. Until the pool owner comes here and fires the Pool Service.

Pool guys are worthless for the most part, my son worked for one as a teen.. he told him dump 1 gal each of acid and chlorine and brush the pool. That was it he didn’t even give him a test kit.
