Help me pick the right SWG unit please!

Oh Dang. lol.

I have a fully prepared speech to the cops on how to explain away 20 gallons of bleach in my trunk. "No officer, it's definitely not for dissolving bodies. It's for my pool, I swear!"
You have been watching to many episodes of "Breaking Bad!" and "John Wick" movies

"No officer, I'm running chlorine to pool owners that are in lock down in the next county over!" Now that'll get you arrested. ;)

I'm all for the RJ60plus in this one. I have it in several pools but specifically in a 28k vinyl with an auto cover. Pump is a SS, runs 5 hours a day @40% and keeps the FC at 7-8 ppm continuously. The chems in the pool are so stable that I haven't added anything including MA as the PH remains at 7.5

oddly enough the interior didn't get harmed... most of it went on the synthetic leather seats, but even the carpeting didn't bleach out. VW. Stubborn German I suppose... I was hauling 8 gallons at a time.... I need to return the empties soon, but at the rate I am using it in the (detached, non-salt) hot tub it might be awhile...

You are lucky. The SWCG's make as much OH+ as they do Cl- and when everything balances out it raises pH. (Chlorine when lost evaporates out to the atmosphere.) You end up making the Cl- up with Muriatic Acid actually when you lower it back down, but effectively the Cl- ion is so concentrated by comparison to what is in Bleach that most of us only add a cup or two every couple of weeks which is still infinitely better. Even if you get in a pinch and forget you run a little high CSI for a week or two.. not a big problem...

That's really what I'm leaning towards right now. I've been playing around with the SWG Calculator excel spreadsheet, and there are a few scenarios where I'd be coming close to 100% or full time pump usage with the RJ45 or Universal40. Having the RJ60's output of 3.10lb/day makes every single scenario I might encounter a non-event.

Have you tried using the PoolMath app? You can "try out" different SWG manufactures and put in the parameters for you pool to get an idea how they would perform in your environment, theoretically.
Yeah, the Excel sheet is a little easier to use I think. Helps me understand better the effectiveness of different Lbs/day outputs of the various brands. This page has been really valuable

You must be an accountant like my wife :)
Hey, that's not nice to say. I thought this was a friendly forum! :)

Just got off the phone with DiscountSaltPool. Turns out they're about half an hour away. Had a nice chat with the guy, who said that during non-peak season, I should see prices drop 25% on the RJ60. Hard to argue with a $400 savings. Sounds like my decision is made, but I've got a few more months of bleach ahead of me. This has been a really fascinating and informative chat everybody

Not an insult, my wife has used excel to write documents :) She is a CPA
We joke that we can ask her whats 2 + 2 and she will put it in a spread sheet.
