HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to turn

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

NIkiBelle, You have a great looking pool. It is very rewarding to see. I agree that the flock at the end helped. You will recall I was a little reluctant to see you try it, but I was wrong. See, we all keep learning. You can probably cut down even more on the time you run your pump and save some electricity. If you know how many gallons per min the pump is supposed to move you can calculate how long it has to run to turn the water over one time. Take your 10,700 gallons and divide by the number of gallons per min and multiply by 60 and you know how many hours the pump has to run to turn the water over once. It is recommended to turn the water over at least once per day. As I have told you before, I like to sneak up on settings when I am fine tuning. So what I would do is run the pump for long enough to turn the water over a couple of times and then begin reducing the time and watching the pool. I think you will begin to see a change in the water somewhere between one turn over and one and half. Anyway, you can find out what you need to do for your pool and your climate this way. Also, many divide the total time into two and run the pump for half the time two times a day. This keeps the pool water from sitting idle so long each day. This works real well if you have a timer. Keep having fun and making everyone in your neighborhood jealous.

Thanks again everyone!!!!

Txmat how do i figure out the number of gallons per minute?

Pump, Filter, size pipe will help the experts here figure it out. Should be less than your filter's max rate.

Do these pics tell you that?

Me? No - I'm not the expert on this. But a close up of the filter label and motor and maybe the pump or model info could help others.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

I have forgotten what pump you purchased and am too lazy to go back through the thread to find it. But either written material that came with it or the manufacturer's website will probably tell you different gpm rates for a given "head." Like Vanya, I do not know enough to be able to advise the loss in gpm due to your setup. Hopefully someone will jump in and give you an estimate. If not you can start with low head and see on the manufacturer's chart what the GPM is. Calculate the time needed and start with that. Using trial and error you can fine tune the length of time it takes to turn the water over sufficiently to keep the pool sparkling.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Thank you for the info! I love that you are excited about keeping the pool so crystal clear. I mean, you really had a tough situation to start with.

We had an above ground pool for a few years, but Leslie's did us in. One guy would tell us one thing, the next guy would say "why did you do THAT?" Gave the thing away. I wish I had known about this site! sheesh.

I'm hoping to learn as much as I can. Heck, I read every single post. I felt like I was carrying the jugs of bleach with you - HAHA!! One morning I woke up with sore arms! (..just kidding.)

Thanks for sharing your experience with us

haha! I doubt that Leebo!

Sparkle - your pool looks amazing too!!! I have so much confidence that if I (or when I....) run into a problem, it's fixable here!

I'm jealous Niki.. but happy for you! :swim:

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Meee to! Seeing that floatee looking like it's just hanging in mid-air... that's amazing!!

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

*Throws a wet noodle at Leebo.

If my pool mysteriously was converted back to bacqu yuk and after a really good cry for about 4 days, i would definitely know what to do to turn it around, that's for sure.

Imrodee? When do you get your pool? I forgot.

Come over and swim for heaven's sake, while you wait on yours. I have extra floats!!!!

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

I'm sure there is a place to ask this but i'm so used to this thread............

I'm trying to upload an avatar. I resized my pic for the 100 pixel thing.

Now it says

The avatar’s filesize must be between 0 and 6 KiB.

I have not a clue what that means. Anyone?

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Right click the photo and select properties. How many KB's is it? Resize it to be under 6KB.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Well, when i changed the size to 100 pixels...that worked fine. It says 100 w x 75 h
I right clicked and this is what i get...

Size: 12.4 KB (12,716 bytes)
Size on disk: 8.00 KB (8,192 bytes)

How do i change that?
