HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to turn

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Mornin!!!!!

FC 8
CC 2

My son did stir a bit after my last bleach last night.

Still cloudy....

I'm gonna put in some bleach now and head out to work.

See ya'll this afternoon!!!!!

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

So it held half slghtly more than half the chlorine over night even with a stir. That looks positive and so does CC staying at 2. So let's add a chart with something new a target of where you need to be!

What the chart shows now in orange is how much FC you are losing per hour based on your data points. The target is 0.083 FC loss per hour which is 1 PPM FC loss over 12 hours (overnight).

Your recent data point is the lowest FC loss over an hour you have to date. Your bleach cost should now go down considerably. :whoot:

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

I am home..finally, long day!!!!!! My son put in 364 oz (which is more than was needed) of bleach at 5:00. He did this because he did not call me first Ugggg. Also because he stirred it at 4 and there were still some leaves and brown ick that came up and he said he was afraid to just leave it like that. lol. However, he said he saw a considerable LESS amount and only had one "cloud" of brown ew instead of many clouds which was the case a few days ago. Leads me to think i still have more vacuuming to do. However, he is at work now and it may be Monday before we can meet up at the same time to vacuum.

So, i've read my orders and yes i'll get you those results here in just a sec. May be hard to calculate what i've lost since he put in more bleach than needed at a FC of 0, because only 311 was needed. And it's going to be more than one hour when i test.

But, i have faith in ya'll amazing minds and patience with me as well as jmborchers' amazing mind and charts.

As for the color...looks about the same i think. I'll post yesterdays pic and today's pic to see if there is a change. Still no clearing on the cloudy.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Ok...here are my stats ...

FC 9...this is 1.5 hours after putting in 364oz bleach and what was needed was most likely 311 oz. Two hours after a big stir.
CC 2.5 or 3. It was maybe a slightly tiny bit pink at 5 drops (very subjective), no pink at 6 drops. After working 11 hours so far today, my eyes aren't exactly keen right now...lol.

My pressure is 15. Now, my pressure used to be around 11 or 12 at baseline but after i put that DE in a couple of times its baseline now is around 14. So i'm guessing i need to backwash around 16 or 17.

Here are a couple pics....

This is last one yesterday

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Oh and one more thing i wanted to mention...maybe i just keep looking for that light at the end of that tunnel butttttttttt

If you look back at what the water looked like hours after my son did that big stir a couple of days ago before we vacuumed all day, it looked like this....

100_1400.jpg

Now it looks like this after a big stir. That's gotta be a good sign yes?

100_1406.jpg

And also wanted to note, that last FC that i reported, the sun was still out as well.

Just added 124 oz. Getting hard to calculate. I've got all 182oz bottles. I just added 2/3s of it. Maybe i need to buy smaller bottles...

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

It is for sure a lighter shade of blue today, which is a good thing. Make sure you shock tonight and in the morning. If my memory serves me, that color of blue was what you started at just before your son brushed up the living dead. Progress is being made.

Question however, how much a day do you think you're spending on bleach?

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Gosh Leebo, that changes constantly.

Back when i was shocking all day long at the beginning and when i thought i had a bigger pool (oops) i was spending well over 30 to 50 bucks a day for about a week.

But, now, since i'm mostly shocking at night and even during the day my FC is staying up somewhat i'd say it's getting less and less. Today i'll probably spend about $10 or 15 i guess? It sorta changes all the time. I have been buying that big 182oz bleach a LOT. But, now i think i may get that liquid chlorine at Wal-Mart or the smaller gallon jugs cause it's hard to calculate smaller amounts using the big jugs.

And yes, i do believe we are almost back to the pretty blue where we were when i thought i was almost home free and then the night of the living dead arose. LOL

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Niki, I use the 182oz bottles as well, because it is cheapest at Costco. To measure the smaller amount I use a 32oz measuring cup I got from the grocery store to measure out the amount I need.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

New one...

FC 13
CC 3

Holding steady!!!

41 oz put in. Wow that was fun. Using a measuring cup instead of 182 gallon jugs for a change. I almost felt like i was cheating. But, of course, i WAS putting bleach in for a pool the size of the Atlantic last week, until you smarties helped me figure out i had a wee pond. LOL

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Where is everyone tonight!!!!

Ohhhhhhhh it's Friday night!!! Well heck. I work weekends. Ya'll have all the fun.

I think i'm a wee bit spoiled on here and want to know what these numbers mean...in English LOL.

That's ok...i'm patient...HA

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Turning the corner Niki. Your bleach use is now down about 10 times from the beginning. Before this is over it will go down 100 times what it was in the beginning. It takes a while to get rid of the CC and since your FC in your other post didn't decrease so much it meant the CC was peaking, which it did.

Now you've used a half PPM FC over an hour what will end up being about 6 for 12 hours.

It should be very close to clear water now soon.

The filter pressure is building so you have a good handle on that and it means the filter is working. All things we want to see...

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Oh? It's all good? HOORAYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

This is exciting. I'm going to check it one more time before i go to bed.

Thanks for your time jm. Gosh ya'll are the bomb!!!!

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

The CC change was very small and likely an error. Don't worry much about that.

You seem to be holding FC some overnight. I'd suggest that you ignore what I said before and only shock at night. You're wasting chlorine during the day with zero cya, and to help save money just shock after the sun goes down. Two 182 oz bottles should take you up around 15FC if my memory serves me right at a 10,500 gallon pool. It may go a bit slower, but you'll save alot of cash.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Her previous data point from the last overnight at ~.7 FC loss per hour supports her current test measurement. It's on the graph.

It is totally possible with 90-95% of the organic waste removed from the pool. That FC use will suddenly drop off. It takes a large amount of FC to combat single cell organisms that are decomposing all that waste.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Sounds great!!!!! Yeah, fighting the sun is not fun. Plus i won't be here during the day until Monday.

Ok these are my last numbers for the night....

FC 12.5
CC 2

Added 62oz and that's it for tonight.
