HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to turn

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

I'm filling the water back up. Oops on the "check the FC level" i just added 311 oz. I got so nervous cause i haven't had any bleach in there in 24 hours. I was having withdrawls or empty nest syndrome or something. I put it in before i read that post.

As soon as i fill back to normal level, i'll start the pump, wait 30 then test. Deal?

Here is a pic just now. But remember, i've had to sweep then let settle then vacuum again. So this pool has been through it today and at this point is a little cloudy. I do think i got 95 % of the flock and what was bound to it, out. Not perfectly clear, but from what it's been through, i give it an A. Also, you can still see the bottom, there is a glare here in this pic, the sun is just about gone.

Can't wait to see how it looks in the AM. Do you think that the floc will help the filter get rid of the rest? Or do i still need to add de?

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

I've followed this thread since the beginning, checking it several times a day.

I find it cool that Niki made the decision to flock mostly on her own. It sounds like she is almost ready to take the pebble from the master's hand.

That is such a kind thing to say!!!!

Thank you so much for following this thread with me. It has made me feel so wonderful to know others are watching/learning/wondering how this is going......but nooooooooooooooooo don't say that bout the pebbles. It scares me!!!! LOL. I'm not leaving this thread or this support here or my lurkers. I can't. I'm hooked. I'll have to have an intervention to make me leave!!!!

And all i know how to do is flock and shock and put CYA in a sock. :|

Much more to learn oh skywalker. Much more. :)

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Well here's the best thing about the BBB process Niki....you don't need to know much! This year I've only used 3 products in our pool. Bleach, CYA, and muriatic acid. The CYA I've added twice, and the MA I have to add about once every 3 weeks or so. Bleach is about all I use. No need to know how to add everything. Learning what works best with YOUR pool and what each product does to YOUR pool is just what this system teaches. Don't downplay yourself....you have a grasp on what your doing. :D

I'm guessing your 100% ready for Monday now...a full day off floating around on your newly cleaned pool enjoying a margarita out of the largest glass you can find! I do have to warn you however.......there is one downfall with your new pool.

After our swap last year our pool has been clear the majority of the time. The kids now HATE when they see leaves or anything sitting on the floor of the pool. I was told today by my wife that the kids told her that "daddy needs to vacuum this messy pool". :(

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

LOL thank goodness my kids are grown. However, that doesn't save me from myself. This afternoon as i was letting the pool floc a little more after the vacuum, a storm came through. Very little rain but wind. I was standing and looking at my pool (like there is ever anything else i do?) and i saw leaves start falling in there. I ran outside and grabbed my net and was fishing those leaves out. Not too bright an idea with thunder sounding and me with a metal rod into 10000 gal of water.

Tomorrow i want to check the FC and CC and TA and pH. i gotta feeling my pH is still low and my TA is rather high. I'll post the results here if you, or someone, wouldn't mind getting me through that much more. After i get the hang of that, i'll feel way more confident.

I'm hoping tomorrow will be the last day of my complete transition from green to clear, and yes a Margaretta will be consumed. And completely enjoyed!!!!!

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

I would test your CH levels too. It wouldn't hurt as I'm sure you've never had a fully accurate test result of them. Just make 100% sure they're not to high (I'm sure they aren't). I still test mine about once a month just to make sure that the fill water I add to the pool isn't high on calcium. Never have been smart enough however to test the fill water first..........

I promise you that you'll get some help.......why wouldn't we??

(alright everybody, let's stop posting on any of her threads from now on....)

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Hahahhahha.

Hey Leebo, one more question...

Have i now graduated from the shock process?

What on earth am i suppose to keep my FC at now. I have nada clue!!!!!!

I'll post a complete list of all my results after i wake up slowlyyyyyy in the AM

Are these the levels i shoot for now? (copied from pool school)

Vinyl with Bleach

FC 3-7
pH 7.5-7.8
TA 70-90+
CH 50-300
CYA 30-50

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Let's first make 100% sure you've graduated from the shock process. Let's make 100% all the stuff in the pool is out and it's fully clear. My in-laws who's pool I take care of HATED me for this. I wouldn't let ANYBODY in the pool until it was perfect. Didn't want to do all the work and not get everything.

With that said.....Put in your CYA level in the pool calculator and on the bottom it will show you a normal range. Keep in somewhere in that area. Just don't EVER let it drop below the minimum. If you do algae has a chance of growing in the pool. We can work all that out in the morning...if only my kids would let me wake up slowlyyyyy.

HEY YOU CHANGED YOUR POST! THose are the numbers to go for...but using flock right now I'm not sure if your FC should change or not. Never used the stuff. Somebody can help you on that in the morning.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Mumbles under my breath at the words "shock process".

Ok so tomorrow this thread will continue on and we can all have more fun!!!! Hopefully with a clear pool!!!!!!

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

OMG wouldn't that be just horrible? I swear i would move. I wouldn't even pack.

I would just start walking down the road and let my feet take me somewhere, that DIDN'T have ANY water RUNNING to it AT ALL. NADA. I'd start even using an outhouse. I swear it.

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

dunno what you edited, but stay with the shock level until you have clear water! That's one of the requirements! Don't give up now, you're so close!

I don't want to see you hopelessly wandering down my street in Ohio. I'd feel obligated to take you in and give you a hot meal before releasing you again...

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Thanks Txmat!!!!!!!

I'll post a pic and my levels in the morning. I will be sleeping in a little. Or that is the plan, but usually when i say that i'm up bright and early.

It's storming again.

I am resisting the urge to go outside and guard my pool.

It's not easy.

I was responding to Leebo's screaming of a green cloudy pool!!!!!!

And thanks for taking me in and giving me a hot meal. It may come to that.

This isn't over ...so close....so close!!!!

Gosh, on the shock. Were you all in the Army or something? I'm thinking if not, ya missed your calling. LOL

Re: HELP i'm in a complete mess and don't know which way to

Morning. A little cloudy in the pool and i can see where the flock is still working. A small white place in the middle. I can still see the bottom of the pool though.

Readings...

FC 14
CC .5
pH 7.5
CH 150

Not sure that CH is good, says ideal is 200 or so...

Sun has been out a little bit this morning...

Oh and is it ok to swim with these readings? What FC level is too high to swim?

It's so much easier for me to be in the pool and scrub than out of the pool. Also, way cooler :)
