Float Valve Assembly w/ O-Ring - 08650-0079
Float valve protects pump from loss of prime if skimmer clogs or flow through skimmer is restricted. Trimmer valve plate on bottom of float valve balances flow between skimmer and main drains.
This float valve measures 6.25" across the bottom x 2" tall.
If the water in the pool drops too low and the skimmer runs dry, the float in the float valve will drop down and close off the top of the skimmer while allowing the skimmer’s back suction hole to pull from the front suction hole, which can be tied to an equalizer port in front of the skimmer or to the main drain.
If the front hole is closed off, the skimmer will be totally blocked and you would need a second source of suction such as a main drain.

They are required by law to be certified in all things pool and must pass a difficult comprehensive test, based primarily on that text book, to get their certification. It's a great system, to ensure someone you hire knows what they are doing, except for the fact that there is no law, no certificate, no text book and no test. If only...
