Hello TFP!!! Purchased a home with a 25,000gallon(ish) pool. Have a "pools of fun" store about a mile away so I started there. The last 72 hours have been a whirlwind, due to the fact my SWG pcb was bad so my salt readings were incorrect with a brand new cell. Ended up getting my salt up to 4,100 before I realized something was waaayyyy off. Bled enough water to get it down to 3142 as of today to start my chemistry. Ended up with some 250$+ of chemical and was like "there has GOT to be a cheaper alternative." Now, I'm here.
My last readings were
pH: 7.8
TA: 199
FC: .4
TC: 2.9
CYA:5
CH:299
They suggested I buy a 25lb container of super soluable until my SWG is back up and running as well has 3 bottles of scale inhibitor. My paperwork said add 9lbs of SS so I did that this evening to avoid sunlight. Based on my recent learnings I'm guessing they got that by TC - FC x 10 = 25. Using diclor it would take about 9 pounds to get to that super shock level. The pool store explained that this would not only shock but also bring my CYA up as it has a stablizer in it. I'm a bit worried about my pH, but I'm sure I can address that after the fact.
Nonetheless, I've purchased a test kit which should arrive tomorrow if I'm lucky, but most likey Monday. Once this arrives I'll be posting again with my results and look forward to the education.
