If that’s the worst that happens this month we all got off easy. Thanks for taking one for the teamAnd I didn't know you can stop wiping the dropper after the first few tests! I've been testing every week, wiping after every drop! D'oh!!

Sounds like you have the hang of it!! Good job tackling your water! It can be intimidating at first, no doubt. You took the bull by the horns and got it done! Folks here are a great resource, stick with the advice here and before long you will be helping others....that's what makes TFP awesome!!I carefully tested and here’s my result.
1. The CYA is 50.
2. The TA is between 220 and 250 depending. At 22 drops the liquid I was dropping in started to turn red but disappears after a swirl. At 24 drops it’s all slightly red tinged and at 25 it’s definitely red.
3. FC = 3ppm
4. CC = .5
5. TC = 3.5
6. I also ran the tests using the small blue box and it looked like chlorine and pH were as high as the scale goes: 5 and 8.2.
It’s slightly cloudy. Not green.@Deltakilo7 how does the water look now? Is it still green at all, or nice and clear?

since you have quite a bit of background information, it is best to continue this thread , just as you did, for these issues until you pool is clear.Do I reply to my own post or pick a person who replied to me and reply to that? This time I’m replying to myself to see how that works.
I appreciate everyone’s help and have made a donation to support TFP. You’ve been so nice and helpful.
Since you started with a cloudy pool, you should follow the SLAM Process. This is how we kill algae and make the pool crystal clear. No need for an OCLT yet since the pool is cloudy. You have already met the criteria to start the SLAM process. Follow it exactly and don’t cut any corners. It’s slightly cloudy. Not green.
What is OCLT?Do an OCLT to be sure you're clear of organics. Water shouldn't be cloudy. If you need to SLAM, you want to stay ahead of it. The longer you wait to get started, the better foothold the algae gains, the slower it is to rid.
Have you done a full set of tests since refilling?
That’s why I had to drain it! I’d dumped a bunch of stabilizer in there and raised the CYA to off the charts. ... back before I knew about this site. I think I am on the right track now with the help of you all.DK, I may have missed it, but someone should have mentioned to stop using the chlorine tablets. Turn off the feeder or take the tablets out of it, as the tabs add CYA in addition to chlorine. Your CYA is kindof at the limit at 50, and it mostly never leaves the pool other than when you drain water.
I can’t figure out the pool math app. I can run the tests but don’t know what to do based on the results. I’ve drained the water down to 12 inches and refilled but it’s still cloudy and green tinged. I’m so disappointed not being able to get this right. Here are today’s results. Any suggestions? I run the pump constantly and clean the filter 1-2 times a day. Still cloudy and greenish... not as green as it was but not clear either.Delta, all of this may seem overwhelming right in light of everything you've been through, but stay close to us and use proper testing as recommend above and we'll make pool care much easier for you. If you have any questions about the equipment or water testing, please let us know. Have a nice weekend.

No I have city water. When the pool place ran test the iron was zero. I don’t know maybe it’s the hot humid weather or I was making mistakes. I think I understand the SLAM now so maybe it’ll just take time. Tomorrow I’ll vacuum and take a picture. Thanks you.Delta, please post a pic of your water. That may help us. Since you drained nearly all the water and now it seems green, I'm concerned about iron. Are you on a well there?
We will get your water clear and balanced in no time. Test results look ok.No I have city water. When the pool place ran test the iron was zero.
