Hi everyone,

I've been lurking this site for probably a month now, learning everything I can about algae and how to get rid of them. The resources here have been a tremendous help in getting our pool back to crystal clear water. Learning about the SLAM process with bleach and the proper way to do a water test has been a real discovery.

We have a tiled pool in Barcelona (Spain) with a total capacity of 40,000 litres (roughly 10,500 gallons). I got a Taylor test kit through Amazon and started the SLAM process two days ago and making progress already. The only caveat is that I'm going through the R-0871 real quick and I can only get a replacement from the US and the shipping costs are quite high. Does anybody know where to get this kits in Europe?

I hope to complete the SLAM process in a couple of days thanks to the info posted here!

Hi and Welcome! I am SO glad TFP has been able to help you with your pool!

Regents for your area-not sure if this company will work better for you but I do know they have a VERY good reputation and customer service so I wanted to share them with you: Clear Choice Labs – Simple. Accurate. Fast. If they cannot help you they might have a source that can.

I would love for you to start a thread about your SLAM journey so we can follow along and offer any help that you might need.

Thanks kimkats!

Just this morning I run out of the R-0871 reagent and the replacement will arrive on Monday, so I'll have to do a little bit of guessing this weekend. I will open a thread in the right forum soon!

You can use 10ml of water instead of 25ml, and then count each drop of R-0871 as .5ppm. That's good enough, you don't need any more specific results for your purposes. It will save considerable reagent. I really wish the K-2006 didn't say to do 25ml testing. People run out of reagent quickly while SLAMming with this method. It's totally unnecessary.
