Hello from an excited Newbie in Bixby Oklahoma!!

I'm shocked that you don't have a hole in the yard yet.

You and me both, Casey! But I believe God's timing is perfect, so I'm trusting this will all work out to my benefit, even if I can't immediately see it.

Ooooohhhh, Lightstreams tile! That sure is gonna give some bling! I am also having 3 scuppers but mine will be either out of stone or cast concrete. I was worried about putting metals into my pool, but perhaps that isn't true. Anyone???

Dig day is so exciting!

Oh, what stone did you pick?

Marla, I had posted in another thread asking that same question and was assured that if i maintain my chemistry properly, metal transfer won't be an issue. i was also reminded that the heater has copper in it.

Even if it's not until Wednesday (as I was told yesterday), it's still going to happen this week. Did you feel anxious before yours? I seriously have butterflies.

I picked 50% Granbury, 25% finnegan surface and 25% buffalo surface. i have some pictures on my phone. I'll upload them to photobucket and post them this afternoon. I didn't want an overall gray look, but wanted a light beige with brown. the granbury is a light beige looking stone, the finnegan is a gray on some surfaces but has some nice spots of brown and the buffalo is more brown. I hope it looks good and is lighter looking overall. The cap will be Sahara flagstone.

Nini exciting week coming! :D

Of course you should know! Telling me I shouldn't want to know would be insulting. My PB explained and then I saw the expense with the travertine coping was in that so much was wasted as they cut so many pieces to fit around the curves. So just the price of coping wasn't a straight sq ft calculation. Does that explain their price? I don't think we were charged much extra for labor.

Yes! A very exciting week!
I decided to scrap the travertine idea. I love it, but we don't have it anywhere else.

LIGHTSTREAM! BLING to the max!

I hope the littles get to see the dig!

Kim

Kim, I haven't told hubby how much $$ for the tile... I did tell him it's expensive.

I'm looking at the steel blue, the peacock or the SBBS. Going to call the sample order in.

My brother in law is a plumbing contractor. I'm going to find out if he can purchase (or me with his contractor number) the tile at the contractor price.

The littles will be here! they will just have to leave for school, but that's ok because I have an extra shift tomorrow afternoon...gotta pay for that tile!

Just got word....

DIGGING TOMORROW!!!!

They will be here at 7:15am. Spraying, forming and then excavation!

I haven't told anyone but you guys!

I invited the girls to bring the kids for breakfast at 8:30. They will be so surprised!

Kim, all I have is my phone camera and I keep it charged, so I am all set for cuteness when those babies watch out the windows.

Im only going to be home tomorrow until 2:15, though because I'm working 3-11. Surely, it will be ok by that point.

Well, the last few weeks have been full of waiting on very very slow responses from my PB. I certainly had much opportunity to increase in patience!
Finally it looks like we will be digging this week, or so I've been told... I was hoping for Monday since the grandbabies are out of school (pre-k) and they all want to watch the big trucks in Nini's yard, but I think it will more likely happen Tuesday or Wed. I'm not getting too excited until I get an actual DAY and TIME.

I made some changes to the side of the pool where we had the pedestals. We will still have those but there will be a wall in the center connecting them with 3 scuppers (either brass or copper) and the pedestals will be plumbed for firebowls in the future.
And, after visiting the stone yard about 6 times, I finally picked my stone- for better or worse. I just can't look any more.

Also, got rid of the Polaris! Hubby has agreed to a robot. A GOOD one. I'm looking at getting the Dolphin M5 (M500), but it's hard to find. I don't need it for a while so I can take my time searching.

As soon as they get the shell in place and I get a sq ft measurement of benches, steps and spa negative edge, I can order my glass tile. I'm pretty sure it'll be the Lightstreams tile. I'm going to order a couple of samples on Monday.

I've been working extra a lot in anticipation of out of pocket expenses, but I've been popping in here and there. Boy! Lots of new builds!! I'm behind on most of the threads.

You are so smart to get the dolphin! I want one. Our Polaris Is constantly getting stuck between our rail and the wall. We have had them out several times. I am honestly pretty sure they put the rail out too far from the wall. Any one ever had that problem with a robot?

Great stuff, all that planning and deciding coming together. Enjoy watching the builders bringing it all together and applying their expertise!

Unlike when I picked everything for our home build, this has been very difficult for me to nail down. I want a certain look but my peanut butter budget can't afford my lobster dreams! Lol! In the end though, what we will have is more beautiful than what's currently in my yard and I am blessed.

Denise, I am so excited for you! I will pray everything goes smoothly tomorrow. I'm sure it will! It is amazing to see everything start happening. I can't wait to see pictures, especially of your grandbabies enjoying the excavation show!

Here are the pictures of the stone I chose. The larger white pieces are the Granbury and the smaller stack stone with it is the finnegan surface. The other photo is the buffalo surface. The final picture is the Sahara flagstone for the wall, spa, pedestals and firepit caps.

Next we we have my "before" pictures of my plain empty backyard, looking from the back fence toward the house and from the patio to the back fence.

Tomorrow it all changes..

Thanks, Jamie! It feels like Christmas Eve and I need to go to sleep but am too keyed up because tomorrow is Christmas!
I'll post pictures for sure!

I'm eager to hear how your cement guy deals with the hidden bubbles after his inspection tomorrow. Your sanding idea sounded good, but I know nothing about it.

I'm up!!! They aren't here yet but hubby will be home from work soon and we need to arm wrestle over where the benches will go before they get here. Not exactly seeing eye to eye on it...

Kim, Thanks for the vote of confidence on the rocks. It was not an easy choice. Now we just wait and see how it comes together.

Ever hear of anyone thinking their pool turned out ugly because their choices didn't go together? Lol!

Well, that's a relief! Probably like no one ever says of their child, "my baby turned out so ugly"! We love our babies and I'm sure I'll love THIS baby!

I'll let hubby know I have a ringer in my corner! I'll send you a check later! Lol! ;)
