Hello, It’s Rob from Redding, CA. I built (subbed out) my pool in 2005. I’m a civil engineer, and I enjoy DIY projects.

I can’t tell you how many searches and posts I’ve read over the years of TFP to help me with my pool issues. I’ve been running Pentair equipment since I built the pool in 2005. I did all the wiring and equipment installations.
We had a wildfire (CARR) in 2018, and my pool equipment was destroyed. Since Pentair had changed the warranty on homeowner installation, I reluctantly had a local Pentair dealer install all the new equipment. The warranty has been used for the SWG IC unit for a yearly thermistor failure. I believe the 3rd one replaced is still working. I was able to recobble together an I5+3s Intellitouch system. I had an i5 originally and upgraded to the i7 and had the i5 board and a motherboard I picked up along the way in a place that didn’t burn. So I found a pretty swell electrical fellow near me in Chico, and I believe he’s on this forum that had a power center, and with my MB and I5 cards, I was able to get back to pre-fire. I have an original mobile touch that is still functioning.
Well, I joined, as I will eventually need to upgrade or replace my Intellitouch system. I had an issue where I had to move my power unit for the SWG, and I was positive I had the comm wires reconnected right, and I was getting the dreaded comm link error on mobiltouch regarding the SWG, but the IntelliFlo was communicating fine. Thinking I did something to the system, I was again on TFP reading the posts on comm error. I was able to figure out that the connector was able to be installed two ways, and when I rechecked and corrected it, the SWG was alive and well in the Intellitouch system.
At any rate, I apologize for the long introduction…
Thanks all, Enjoy
Rob

Hah, yeah @mknauss that was me ;) I had a spare Intellitouch panel with load center that I didn't feel like shipping and it was taking up too much space in my workshop - Rob helped me remedy the situation.

@RBurn good to see you on TFP, sounds like after fixing the connector you've got everything back to working again? No need to upgrade the Intellitouch now then, right?

Maybe I spoke too soon. This am it’s back to com error. The cell is in cold water mode. Rechecked wires and it it reads ok when cell is check start up mode but as the check starts and I reenter the swg it says com error.
I can start a new thread with my issue but this swg gave me one (this last season) of the 3 years with no issues as I had to change thermistor unit the beginning of the first two seasons.

Hey Rob, yeah start a new thread under equipment > pool automation

And add this answer... Are you saying that the comms work until the swg turns on? What kind of swg do you have (intellichlor, aquarite etc)... I think last time we chatted was pre-covid and my memory isn't all that great 😃
