My super pump strainer housing (SPX1600AA) was violated by a chipmunk and the drain plug inlet gasket seat is mauled/chewed. The inlet/outlet is 1.5". Apparently, this housing is no longer available as a replacement part, but a 2'x2" inlet/outlet is available from many supply houses. Does anyone happen to know if this can be a direct bolt on replacement? (other than changing out to 2" fittings). Motor is fine and only used as a waterfall feature, so barely any hours on the pump. I'm considering a temp fix by installing a copper 1/4" NPT fitting with the thread sealing tape and use that as a drain valve.

As long as the internal threads are good, any 1/4" pipe plug can be used. If you want a drain, get a brass radiator drain valve, they were used for years as air-relief valves on filters. Will save the cost of a new housing and can be permanent. Or find any 1/4" MPT plug.
The one with 2" plumbing will bolt right on but need some minor re-plumbing to fit.
