Hayward Regulator Valve Question

I have a Jandy 3-way valve that diverts water from a dedicated vacuum port and the skimmer on the suction side. This is the only way I've been able to control the amount of suction going to the vacuum. If I want more suction to the vacuum, I get less suction from the skimmer (and visa versa).

So, I would like more independent control of the suction for the vacuum and skimmer. I purchased a Hayward V094 regulator valve for this purpose. With it, I was hoping I could adjust the Jandy valve for the amount of suction I want for the skimmer. Then I could use the Hayward valve to adjust the amount of suction to the vacuum. I hope that makes sense.

However, I feel like putting a non-flexible part (the Hayward valve) directly into my vacuum port may not be wise(?). If someone were to jump on it, it could break off in the port (or worse). I've only seen this valve in a few videos being connected to the skimmer via an adapter, so now I'm thinking it may not be intended for use on a vacuum port?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I'm not sure what you were thinking was going to give you any greater control. I have the exact same setup as you with one three-way valve between a wall suction Port and my skimmer. If you put that 3-way at the halfway point that will be maximum flow. But if you need more suction from the cleaner you just have to close off the skimmer a little more. There's no way to miraculously get additional suction from the skimmer by adding an additional piece of equipment

Jason,

I had composed the same message but just could not get it to sound right so that I could post it... Since you covered it so well, I just deleted mine... :p
