Just wondering if I should remove salt from my pool that is currently reading 3400ppm. Hayward mentions that the ideal is 3200ppm but im not sure if this is to increase cell longevity?
Hayward recommends 3200ppm ideal but is 3400ppm ok?

You are fine... I don't have a Hayward but my cell has a wide range where it will operate... 2800 to 4500ppm...
Your cell will not even notice the slight difference.

Mine has an "ideal" level of 3400.. It probably does work best at 3400, but the difference between the operation at 3000 and 4000 are probably very small..
They basically give you a range and then make there "optional" number half way between too low and too high.

That reading is also within the +/-400ppm margin of error so for all you know it IS at 3200.
I used a Taylor salt testing drop kit and also have a digital salt tester: Hayward Salt Meter, Hand Held Digital - GLX-SALTMETER - INYOPools.com
