I have the pump cover shown and it constantly get stuck or very difficult to remove. The rounded handles are basically useless. Is there any tricks or tools that will make my life easier?

One trick I have used in the past is to loosen the lid while the pump is running. Sometimes this will work.
The other option is a strap wrench but I am not sure that would work on that lid.
Last resort, use a rubber mallet to "gently" loosen the lid.

I considered a strap wrench but the handle design will likely impede that. What a stupid design.
I have a Hayward TriStar and struggle to get the lid on and off. It's 1 year old so brand new, If I just hand tighten it seems to have air bubbles, if I give it some oomph to tighten then I can't get it back off. I am buying a rubber mallet today on my way home. I tried to get it off last night and I slipped took off the tip of my pinky and most of the nail. Should have went with the Super Pump, that lid is gold standard!
