Hayward Perflex EC50AC - Answer needed b4 I can hard plumb

With the Hayward W3EC50AC, do I have to align markings on lid and body (there are a few), or can I orientate lid any way I want prior to tightening down the clamp?

I have the Perflex. I can't see any reason why orientation would matter. Having taken the top off many times, I can't see anything inside that would be affected by orientation. There's also nothing in the manual about it.
