Hayward omnilogic

Ok I think I am running my cell too much. I am at 80% for 8 hours a day, and here are the results after 2 days:
FC 18.0
CC 2.5
CYA 80

I think let it run without the swg for a few days at least?

What is your SWG % and pump runtime?

Yup, cut back on the SWG for 2 days and see how your FC drops.

Hi guys trying to tune my SWG, seems to kinda be all over the place. Here are my current values

SWG percentage 50%
Pump Runtime: 8 hours a day (enough for one full pool volume clean 15k gallons)
FC: 8ppm
CC: 0
Ph: 7.3
TA: 40
CYA: 45
CH: 975ppm
Salt: 3600

I am not sure why the CC is zero, i did the test twice and it didnt show anything. I will be flushing about 4-5k volume in about a month, I plan to introduce softened water into my pool over two days from my home softener. Then I will install small softener for auto fill.

Any advice?

I am still trying to figure this out, I am running my cell three times a week at 25% for 8 hours and my chlorine is still over 15ppm. Is it bad to have such a high chlorine? Will it use more acid to balance? Should I totally shut off salt cell and measure weekly until it drops?

Ph is 7.7
CC is zero
TA is 20
CYA is 80
Salt 3600
Cl 15 ppm

Thanks in advance.

Is your pool covered?

At CYA 80 FC is safe up to 32 ppm. 15 ppm is well within the safe zone for your CYA.

Unless you are using a pH meter, the pH drop test is invalid with FC over 10 ppm. The test will read high. I would not adjust your pH until your FC is 10 ppm or lower.

Your SWG is only giving you 0.6 ppm on the days you run it.

On the FAS/DPD test you are using a 10 ml sample and the test is taking 30 drops of R-0871?

Yes correct 30 drops. Yes got it on the PH test. My system is automatic on PH, but I assume it was pumping acid in too much since the FC is above that 10 ppm mark. How can I lower my FC? I cant seem to do anytthing to get it normal again. I can totally turn off the salt cell. Not sure what to do. My pool is not covered.

Turn off the cell and test your pool FC daily and see if it drops.

Test daily with the powder scoop method in my test kit, or using the drops with the yellow vial?
The drops on the yellow vial only tell you...

  • If clear you have no chlorine
  • If yellow you have some chlorine
  • If golden you have lots of chlorine
That's all it tells you.
