Hayward Heater will not start after power surge

Hi,

I had a power surge and it fried the switch board. So, I bypass the switchboard and wired the heater power cable to a direct power switch. Now the blower turns on and I can now see numbers on the heater display screen, but the heater won't turn on. There's not any noise or clicks indicating it's even attempting to start.
I suspect it was the main control circuit board behind the display screen, So I replaced it with a used one from ebay. It's a long shot, but I replaced the thermisitor as well. Heater still doesn't turn on.
Thoughts on what else I can check?

Universal H-Series Diagnostics Guide provides detailed diagnostics for troubleshooting problems and error codes.

You may have fried the Fenwal box.

If the blower is on do you get voltage at the igniter and then at the gas valve?

That start sequence is controlled by the Fenwal.
